Dear Passengers,
Your comfort and good mood during the flight are extremely important for us. Traveling on big distances by plane as well as by any other type of transport has become an essential part of our everyday life. Even those tourists who have at their disposal just a few days prefer to travel by air. However, air travel may affect passenger’s physical as well as psychic condition negatively. This can be easily avoided in case you plan your trip thoroughly. We hope our recommendations will help you to prevent possible stress situations that may appear during the travel.
Before the Flight
Do not forget to consult your doctor before air travel. Air pressure in the aircraft cabin is the same as at height of 2440 m (6000 feet), therefore persons suffering from diseases of respiratory tract or of cardiovascular system are strongly advised to consult doctor before they fly. Ask your doctor if you need to be vaccinated or to take any kind of medicines during the flight. No medical prescription is required for purchase of the majority of medicines and your doctor will help you to choose the proper medicine.
Avoid overeating before the flight. During long-haul flight digestive apparatus functions more slowly than usual and therefore it is strongly advisable to eat low calorie meals in small quantities before the flight.
At the Airport
Arrive to the airport in good time before departure. You will have enough time for travel formalities and Duty-Free shopping. Avoid those types of activities which require extra efforts and may lead to overfatigue. Travel without Luggage.
Avoid heavy and bulky luggage in the aircraft cabin. It is advisable to take along only those items that are necessary during the flight.
During the Flight
In order to reduce pressure in the internal ear caused by air pressure alterations in the passenger cabin during take-off and landing, stewardesses always offer passengers sugar candies before the flight. Those passengers who travel with infants and small children are recommended to give them to drink during take-off, landing and every time the plane changes its altitude. You may give the baby soother as well. Before the flight parents are strongly advised to cure their children from otitis and cold.
Dehydration. Try to drink plenty of water and juice during the flight. Avoid drinking much tea or coffee – being diuretics, they contribute to dehydration.
Try not to use contact lenses during the flight. The excessive dryness of the air in the aircraft cabin may lead to irritation of eyes. That is why doctors recommend use of eyeglasses instead of contact lenses during the flight.
Comfortable Position during the Flight. Comfortable position during the flight is extremely important. Remove all items that impede normal circulation of blood. Fasten seat belts and make yourself comfortable.
Jet-Leg. Usually jet-leg lasts as many days as many time zones the passenger crosses during her/his trip to the point of destination. In order to avoid side effects of adaptation to the local time (acute condition of bronchial asthma, rheumatism, cardiovascular diseases etc.) we recommend you to have rest, to read and relax during period of adaptation. This will help you to overcome the process of adaptation more quickly and smoothly and will make negative effects of the environment (such as temperature drops etc.) less painful. Good sleep before the flight will help to prevent insomnia, overfatigue, appetite loss and other negative effects of adaptation.
Blood Circulation. During the flight avoid staying motionless, try to change body position from time to time. This is essential for normal blood circulation. Simple physical exercises that can be done during the flight will prevent appearance of fatigue and edemata. Sit comfortably and change your body position from time to time.
